Curriculum

Village Green follows a play based, relationship building philosophy. Our students spend the majority of the day in intentional play with materials provided by the teachers. We follow the CT ELDS for developmentally appropriate standards as well as the CTDOTS for observations and assessments. We conduct observations weekly, and assessments 3 times a year. This information is used to guide curriculum and lesson planning, and is reported to families at conferences twice a year, along with a formal report.

Illnesses at preschool

There are many viruses that are common in early childhood, most predominately flu, RSV, and Covid. As a program, we are required to follow the local health department regulations, including flu shots for all children each year in the fall. Masks are optional; however, many families choose to use them to prevent common colds and other illnesses from spreading. Staff must follow the regulations of the local Health Department, the OEC, and the FCC. We are cleaning the toys and classrooms on a frequent, regular basis.

What to Bring to School

Are you planning your child’s preschool experience for next fall and wondering what your child needs to bring?

Children should have a back pack big enough to hold the following and also to bring home art projects and books from the lending library,

An extra set of clothes in case they need to change,

A healthy snack and water bottle,

Wear closed toe shoes to safely play on the playground.

Please label your child’s belongings, it is amazing how many children have similar backpacks, water bottles, and clothes.
